The Story of the Elephant

The day of Choosing had arrived.

All of the boys gathered in the center of town, carrying only small rucksacks with food and essentials. Their eyes darted to one another, then back to the ground as if examining the already familiar scuffs and scrapes on their shoes. The town square buzzed with excitement, murmurs were traded by the townspeople and blended with the din of animal sounds. Each grown man was accompanied by his totem - the animal that complemented him, giving balance to his personality and strength. These men had all been through this ceremony, the passage from being a boy into becoming a man.

But seriously folks

Desedo Films is a production company specializing in commercials and new media. We’ve produced content for just about every size and shape screen that's been invented. We’re also MBE certified, and a terror on the dance floor. It would be nice to say that there is a method to our badness, but we prefer to throw a good party and leave the figures for the sages.

The story behind the story?

Due to a shared love of good tailors and old Volvos, Raafi Rivero and Michael Hastings-Black met in Brooklyn one hot summer. We crushed a cup of wine, talked till dawn and parted ways. Michael to farm in Denmark. Raafi to splice film for Spike Lee.

As the griots tell it, we met again, shot together and opened Desedo in 2005. Our first job was to produce a viral campaign for the Webby-nominated site Bovine Unite. We’ve since moved to Manhattan, doubled in size and proudly delivered content to Panasonic, Sony and the Sundance Institute.

And if that doesn’t get it all down right and exact, we love a good conversation. Not like, love. So stick around a bit, will you, and do take a second to poke your nose into our thoughts. Who knows, we might just have something to say to one another.
