  • Interesting New York

    bodegafoodpyramidsm.jpg

Interesting New York is this Saturday @ FIT. I’m helping to produce it, so come on through, get your learn on and we’ll crush cups of wine in the eve. Learn about what you say? Wonderfully weird things like The History of Techno, Bodega Food Pyramids and Jane Eyre’s Internets. Is Karl Lagerfeld really a robot? How does Ping-Pong affect interviews? Tix are $35 and the day is priceless.

  • So Lonely

Our friends Michael and Johanna recently wrote great posts about the current upswing in collective loneliness. It may seem at odds with our web of connections, but with each wave of tech comes new feelings of alienation. Wondering if that’s what put the walkies in this Police video.

  • African Fashion Index

    jimi-luiz-adelaja.jpg
Our friend Yana Fleming just launched the African Fashion Index, which is the first comprehensive guide of African fashion designers, ‘regardless of race, religion or geographic location.’ Of course, she did this in her spare time, when not pursuing a PhD, running her own design firm or speaking 5 languages. Good heavens. and Happy Fashion Week to all, Dropsquad Desedo is lamping front row.

  • Chad Ocho Cinco

    ocho cinco

So Bengals WR Chad Johnson has legally changed his named to Chad Ocho Cinco – and now his jersey will reflect that. I love this sly win for individuality within a massive corporation, sometimes maligned as the “No Fun League”. @ the end of the day, Chad knows that he is businessman, not just a sportsman, and is remixing the ways in which he can capitalize on his brand. Reminds me of Joe Namath, Muhammad Ali and of course Rod Smart, aka He Hate Me, from the XFL.

  • Mischief Roof Pixxx

For those in the know, the Mischief Roof Party was a scorcher. Ring Pops + Pixie Stix, Twister + Butternuts + more that cannot be named. And so happy fall to yall and keep your ears to the street, cause soon comes more fun.

  • Summer Camp + Hip-Hop

    mik-moore-mix-tape.jpg
As a teen I went to a summer camp on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Ran about barefoot, howled @ the moon and learned to be me. And in that feral setting, I also developed a love for hip-hop, brought on by the Brooklyn kids in my tent. Reading the Camp Camp blog today, I learned that this little distribution channel of rhyme was actually happening in bunks and swamps nationwide, concrete jungle indeed.

Rockwell for everyone who was roofside @ Mischief last night. And today we crush a cup of wine for Jordan’s birthday. Evidence of that Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday is forthcoming….
